V.A. - Handel's Young Messiah (1999)

Frank McNamara ír zongorista, hangszerelő és karmester 1999-ben, az ezredforduló tiszteletére készítette el Handel Messiásának modern átiratát, melyet 1999. decemberében ünnepélyes keretek között, kétszer is előadtak Dublinban. Az előadásokról film is készült.
Bár nekem nincs ellenemre nagy klasszikusok ilyetén népszerűsítése, a lemez hallgatásakor eszembe jutott, hogy mikor a kilencvenes évek elején a hasonló szellemiségű Bach Máté passió feldolgozást szerettem volna meghallgattatni egy kedves, komolyzenével hivatásszerűen foglalkozó ismerősömmel, nem jártam sikerrel. Ő akkor azt mondta: ezzel nem szabad viccelni.
Ebből is látszik, hogy mint mindenben, a vélemények ebben is megoszlanak.
